Vancouver Photographer Dan Jackson presents his 3rd annual exhibit & cocktail party “Le Salon” (Classical Depictions Unencumbered by Reality)On Saturday June 18th, Studio 730 will be transformed into a turn of the century salon as Dan Jackson presents new work representing three influential art movements; Dutch Baroque, Pictorialism and contemporary photography.Never one to take himself too seriously, the exhibit is presented as a tongue in cheek response to the formal gallery setting and our modern day preoccupation with traditional images and anachronistic techniques. In “Le Salon” Dan uses constructed images he calls “Ersatz Impressionism” that challenge the perception of photography as document and the devaluing of the inauthentic. Le Salon seeks to fabricate wonder and encourage the viewer to embrace illusion and the manufactured experience.http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=208223059214816
