Perilous Vista. As a kid I remember being captivated by footage of depression era daredevils who would walk tightropes and perform other stunts with the NYC skyline as a backdrop. I loved the tension in those images.
Found some old photos I had taken from the Empire State Building. Rigged up a flag pole in studio using ladders, rope and a simple table fan. Photographed the model straddling the flagpole using strobes to replicate natural light. To capture the correct angle of the building on the right (Waterfront Stn. in Vancouver) I had to climb over a railing & almost killed myself. To give the image a vintage documentary feel I tweaked the colour, added grain, dust & scratches, lowered the contrast and muted the saturation. I also refrained from removing the pigeon poop on the window sill.
